Back Into the Blogging World
I'm not sure if life will be normal again for a while, but I'm back in the office and playing catch up. I am still struggling to deal with the loss of my father and the responsibility of handling his estate is on my shoulders. As much as I'd like to curl up and pretend this is not happening, I know for a fact my father, who was one of my biggest supporters, would want me to continue to put my heart and soul into the business I love.

M. I. A.
I've been a little M. I. A. as of late. If you follow my blog or Facebook you probably have noticed my absence. I have been gone from updates and blogging since the end of November. Those that have published during the past few weeks were scheduled in advance.

Happy New Year!
Here we are, the year is slowly winding to a close. It is a time to remember the year that has come and gone and to look ahead to the year that lies before us. As I reflect on 2015, I cannot help but smile. 2015 has been an amazing year for Geno Photography!
I am truly blessed to have such amazing clients. They are what makes my job so great. I have had the opportunity to meet many great couples and photograph weddings all over the state and out of state as well. I have had the pleasure of snuggling and photographing many sweet newborns. I have gotten to capture special moments in the lives of many families. It has been a very blessed year.
As I look to the new year, I am filled with excitement at all the wonderful experiences yet to come. Already, my calendar is filling and I have been meeting so many lovely couples, whose weddings I am greatly looking forward to capturing. 2016 will be another wonderful year I am sure.
Thank you to all my clients for allowing me the honor of being a part of your lives as I capture your milestones! I am truly blessed.

Happy Birthday, G!
Happy birthday to my sweet G! She is seven...wait, I must have typed that wrong. She cannot possibly be seven! Crazy how time flies. Seven years ago, as a client was leaving the studio at the end of their session my water broke. Just a few short hours later, little Miss G joined our family and it's never been the same since. Love this girl!! She is my sneaky, stubborn little girl who is so smart, loving and beautiful. I cannot imagine my life without her. So again, little Miss G, wishing you the happiest of birthdays! I love you!!

Happy Brithday, L!
Okay, so really this post isn't possible. It just simply cannot be. Totally not real. It just is not feasible that my little girl is 9. Seriously, how did this happen?

My Girls
While taking portraits in Lincoln's Sunken Gardens for my brother's family, I couldn't resist capturing my own two adorable girlies while I was there. It was a warm evening, but my girls were ready to ham it up for the camera (which is so unusual!). I was so happy they willingly cooperated.

The Hupp Family
Recently, I headed out to Nebraska to visit my brother's family. While we were there, I had the opportunity to capture their family portraits at Lincoln's gorgeous Sunken Gardens. I love this location and am beyond amazing that is 100% volunteer created. Wonderful!

Florida {Part 2}
The beach! Ah, beautiful St. Augustine, we meet again. It was a brief
trip to the beach due to the wind and chill (by chill I mean it was in
the 60s, brrr! Lol!). Though truthfully, after the 80s we'd been
enjoying while walking around Orlando's amusement parks, 60s seemed like
freezing temps. We decided to skip putting swimsuits on the girls
since it was chilly and windy. We figured they'd just get their feet a
little wet and be content. Ha! We should have known better.

Florida! {Part 1}
After many years of waiting and planning, we surprised our girls with a spring break trip to Florida. The girls are currently six and eight and at the perfect ages for the magic of Disney. After a very long drive, which went surprisingly smoothly, we arrived at our hotel in Florida and settled in to recuperate from the journey.
We spent all day on Friday at Disney's the Magic Kingdom. The pedometer on my phone counted us at a total of 11 miles walked around the park that day. Such a busy and magical day!! The girls loved the rides. Pretty sure Gabrielle is now a roller coaster junkie. At six, she'd never been on a roller coaster before. We started her off on Space Mountain. Oh my. She was in the seat in front of me gripping onto the bar for dear life as the roller coaster began to move, so nervous and excited. As we rounded the first turn and gained speed, all she could say was "THIS IS AWESOME!" She then insisted we go on every roller coaster there at least once and was a little bummed when we went on the rides that were more "experiences" than thrill rides. Laurelin enjoyed all of the rides; the waiting not so much however. I do have to say, they are now pros at queuing.

Girl Scout Cookies are Coming!
This year, the Geno Photography studio is playing host to our Girl Scout troop's cookie pantry. I tell you, it is a little difficult to focus with cases of Girl Scout cookie deliciousness in the room with me. My two sweet Girl Scouts are so excited to start selling this Friday. My oldest has sold the last two years, but this is the first year for my youngest and she is so happy to be selling along side her big sister.

A Wonderful Year
It's hard to believe 2014 is winding to a close. A year full of tiny newborns, beautiful seniors, loving families, and gorgeous weddings has come and gone. My schedule has been filled with amazing sessions and events. I have had the pleasure of photographing weddings all over the state of Iowa, including Des Moines, Mason City, and Dubuque. I think this year has been one of my absolute favorites.

My Baby Girl is 6!
It is hard to believe it, but my Gabby girl is 6! How is that even possible? I always enjoy seeing how much my client's children have grown between sessions. With my own children, it's often harder to see these changes since I have the pleasure of watching them grow every day.

Finding Balance This Summer
Summertime in the Geno house is always a busy time. I am trying my best this summer to balance the demands of wedding season, while still giving 110%, and taking time to create memories with my family. I love my job and am so very, very thankful that it has allowed me to work from my home studio and be with my children as they grow. It is not always the easiest balance to maintain, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

The Life of a Photographer's Child {Just For Fun}
The saying is that the "cobbler's children have no shoes," and I've often heard it said that photographer's children have no portraits. This is definitely not the case in my family. My children have been in front of the lens since day one. I think of anyone in the world, a photographer should understand the importance of capturing their children. I have, at times, had to bribe my children to go along with my crazy photo plans. I am thankful that they put up with me and my camera. :) I love being able to look back through the photos and see how much they have changed, even if they're just candid moments at the park. My kids look at me like I'm a little crazy when I get all sappy over a picture of them, but I'm sure one day they'll appreciate having the memories immortalized in images.
