Mason + Bridgette {Engaged}
Recently, I met up with Mason and Bridgette at City Park in Iowa City for their engagement session. It was a beautiful evening and I had such a wonderful time working with them both. We started the session over by the Shakespeare theater, then headed to the area by my most favorite tree ever, the willow tree by the river.
I seriously love this tree in the evening light. In past years the area around the willow tree has been well maintained. Unfortunately, this year it seems that it has been removed from the mowing area at City Park. So it took a little trekking through weeds to get to it, but it was totally worth it. Thankfully Mason and Bridgette were troopers and went along with me.
The second half of our session was at the area around the IMU. I love the old Row House. The colors in the metal went so well with the colors in Mason and Bridgette's outfits. I love the series of them interacting along the Row House east wall.
To end the session, the evening light over the IMU bridge was a perfect setting. I love their portraits on the bridge!
I had such a great time with Mason and Bridgette. They were so relaxed and easy to work with. I cannot wait for their wedding this November!

Kyle + Wendy {Wedding: Part 2}
The ceremony at Kyle and Wendy's wedding was beautiful. It was
gorgeously decorated and attended by close friends and family. Kyle's
parents are passed and during the time that they would have been seated,
Kyle carried two white roses to lay on the chairs that had been
reserved for them. It was so touching. Though his parents were not
there in person to witness his marriage to Wendy, they were certainly
there in spirit.

Corridor Wedding Professionals Event
I recently spent the evening chatting with other wonderful wedding vendors at the Corridor Wedding Professionals Event. The event was hosted by the Iowa Memorial Union on their gorgeous new back patio area. The catering was provided by University of Iowa Catering and was fantastic. So delicious! Speilman's Event Services provided the beautiful linens. I love the blush tones and the sequined tablecloths were gorgeous. The floral designs were provided by Julie's Floral Fountain and were very elegant. The photography for the evening was provided by me, and it was a pleasure to photograph this fun event.

Stuart + Marybeth {Engaged}
Earlier this month, I met up with Stuart and Marybeth for their engagement session at the Lake MacBride spillway area. It was a perfect evening for portraits, albeit a bit warm. Golden evening sun, a gorgeous couple, and a beautiful location; it really doesn't get any better.

Kyle + Wendy {Wedding: Part 1}
At the end of August, I head to the brand new Noah's Event Center in
West Des Moines to capture Wendy and Kyle's wedding day. When I
arrived, the setup was still in process and I had so much fun capturing
all the beautiful details. Wendy created a large variety of chalkboards
to share information with her guests. There was a chalkboard telling
their timeline from first date to "I Do's"; a chalkboard to label the
candy bar, guest book, gift table, and more; small chalkboards to
reserve the parents' seating in the ceremony, and many more. So
beautiful.

Happy Brithday, L!
Okay, so really this post isn't possible. It just simply cannot be. Totally not real. It just is not feasible that my little girl is 9. Seriously, how did this happen?

What to Wear {Engagement Portraits}
A question we are often asked is, "What should we wear for engagement portraits?" We recommend timeless, classic looks that will last through the years. Wearing clothes that are too trendy often means the photos will look outdated in a matter of months or years. If you choose classic items, the photos will continue to look great and up-to-date for years to come. For a classic look, choose a soft color palette with a couple of bright colors that are repeated in accessories throughout the portraits. However, if you wish to use trendy, modern clothing, that is completely up to you. Either way, you can make a beautiful portrait!
