The Valentine Family

On a chilly, but clear evening in early November, I headed to Skriver Stables in Iowa City to photograph the Valentine family.  I love family portraits, but this session was extra special.  They included their dog and two horses.  So fun!

The DeFord Family

I met with the DeFord family at Wilson's Orchard during golden hour one beautiful October evening.  The weather was gorgeous.  Such a perfect evening for portraits!  I love their outfit choices.  The gray, black, and denim with a few pops of red were perfect for the orchard.

The Miller Family

I had such a wonderful time with the Miller family at Wilson's Orchard in October.  The weather was perfect and the location was gorgeous for their family portraits.  Their two little guys are so adorable!

Mason, Bridgette, & Aidan

Mason and Bridgette added someone special to their recent engagement session, their adorable one year old, Aidan.  He was such a great little model during the session, a joy to work with.  Love how their family portraits turned out!

Jayden

I had so much fun with Jayden and her mother, Jessica, during her Spring Mini-Session at the end of May.  We met at Thornberry Dog Park and wandered the paths over to the Iowa River Power Restaurant Bridge.  The evening sun was beautiful and it was a perfect evening for portraits.

The DeFord Family

I had so much fun with our Spring Mini Sessions at the end of May.  For the DeFord family's session, we met up at Willow Creek Park in Iowa City.  I love the colors they chose for their outfits!  Such a perfect combination.

The DeFord Family

I have been photographing Carter and his little sister, Adria, since Carter was just six months old and since Adria was born.  I was super excited when their mom said this fall, their mini-session would include their whole family.  I think family portraits are so important, such a wonderful way to preserve memories. 

The Smith Family

On a chilly October evening, I met up with the Smith family at Willow Creek Park in Iowa City.  Despite the cold, the kids all did great.  I love the portraits of them on the rust toned bridge. 

The Klitgaard Family

I once again had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Klitgaard family.  It was a chilly October morning, but the kids were all fabulous.  It was so fun to see how much they have grown since I last had the pleasure of photographing them.

The Mitchell Family

In early October, I headed to Iowa City for the Mitchell family's mini session.  It has been a few years since the Mitchell family has been in front of my camera.  It was a pleasure to photograph them again!

The Smothers Family

At the beginning of October, I met up with the Smothers family for their Fall Mini-Session at the University of Iowa Art Building.  Seriously, how adorable is this family?  Their little girls were so great.  They braved the chilly weather and still had big smiles for the camera.

The Bottorff Family

At the beginning of October, I met with the Bottorff family at the University of Iowa Art building for their mini-session.  I had never photographed in this are prior to their session.  I'm so glad they introduced me to it!

The Nash Family

Meet the Nash family.  They were amazing enough to brave the heat a few weeks ago for their family session in Iowa City.  For the session, we headed to the Iowa City Dog Park.  Sounds strange, I know.  But I love the Iowa River Power Restaurant bridge and the grassy field near the dog park.  They make great locations for portraits. 

Eden {Newborn}

Recently, I headed to the home of sweet, little six-day-old Eden to capture her newborn portraits.  Eden was such a cooperative little one.  We kept her room nice and toasty and her tummy full, and she slept wonderfully for her session.  Eden was simply adorable during her session.  She was full of smiles.  I love the faces babies make in their sleep!

Family Photos {Creating the Look}

 

So often I am asked by clients, "What should we wear to out session?"  Your wardrobe choices greatly affect the look and feel of your portraits.  While you don't need to spend months tediously deciding exactly what you and your family members will be wearing, it is important to put some careful thought into the outfits you choose.

The Klitgaard Family

Another of our wonderful families who joined us during our Autumn Mini Sessions, was the Klitgaard family.  Seriously, how adorable are these kiddos?  They did great during the session, such wonderful smiles and giggles and love.  The wonderful interactions and connection they have in their portraits together are beautiful. 

Autumn & Family

School has begun again and summer is winding to an end.  Sure, there is a little part of me that will miss being able to take the family to the beach and watch my girls splash around in the water, but I am so looking forward to fall.  I love autumn.  I love the colors.  I love the weather.  I love the smells.  Seriously, it is my favorite time of year.

Tanner {Three Years Old}

 

Seems impossible, but Tanner is three!  If you've been following my blog over the past few years you have seen this little guy grow.  I have been capturing moments in his life since he was an itty-bitty six month old.  Hard to believe he's three already.  How quickly time flies!

The Klitgaard Family

Last Saturday morning, I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing the Klitgaard family at their home in Iowa City. After the serious photos, the kiddos got a chance to have a "silly session." They had a blast taking funny pictures. Their silly pics are just exploding with personality. So much fun!

The Meyer Family

At the end of October, I met the Meyer family at City Park for their family portraits. Their boys weren't too interested in getting their portraits taken, but with alternating poses and time for them to play we got some great shots. I love the picture of their boys laying in the leaves.
