The DeFord Family

I have been photographing Carter and his little sister, Adria, since Carter was just six months old and since Adria was born.  I was super excited when their mom said this fall, their mini-session would include their whole family.  I think family portraits are so important, such a wonderful way to preserve memories.
We met at the Iowa City Dog Park at the end of October just as golden hour began.  The light was warm and gorgeous and was such a compliment to their beautiful neutral outfits.  Seriously, there's only one word to sum up this session, "LOVE."

Every family session I do of course I make sure we get pictures of the whole family and the kids, but it's also so important to get portraits of mom and dad together.  Really, that is the foundation of the whole family and is something beautiful and to be celebrated.

I think on of my all-time favorite images of Carter and Adria is the of them playing in the prairie grass in the field beside the dog park.  The joy on their faces and they hug (or, well, really Adria is kind of tackling her brother, but they are having so much fun and you can see how much they love each other).  So adorable!!

I also adore this picture of Adria giving Carter a kiss.  It's one of those quiet sweet moments.  Sometime families freeze up a bit when I ask them to take a moment to just talk and interact during the session, then sometimes moments like this happen.
