The Valentine Family

On a chilly, but clear evening in early November, I headed to Skriver Stables in Iowa City to photograph the Valentine family.  I love family portraits, but this session was extra special.  They included their dog and two horses.  So fun!

The Schrader Family

At the beginning of November, I met up with the Schrader family for their session.  It was a chilly evening, but the weather was gorgeous.  It truly doesn't get much better than four adorable kiddos and a phenomenal sunset.  Perfection!

Dane + Tristan {Wedding: Part 3}

After the ceremony, the bridal party headed over to the Old Capitol in Iowa City for some fun bridal party portraits.  I love the lines and architecture at the Old Capitol.  The columns make for a beautiful backdrop for portraits, as do the stairs.

Dane & Tristan {Wedding: Part 2}

After Tristan arrived at St. Mary's in Oxford, her bridesmaids headed into the church to let us know they had arrived.  Tristan waited in the limo, ready for her first look with Dane.  We brought Dane out to the front of the church (beautiful lighting and location!), where he awaited his bride.

Peter & Ryan {Engaged}

 The first weekend in June, I met up with Peter and Ryan at the Des Moines Art Center rose garden.  It was a beautiful setting to begin their engagement session.  Earlier in the day a big thunderstorm had passed through the area.  Thankfully, by the evening the skies had cleared and it was beautiful. 

Kenny & Erin {Engaged}

Last weekend, I headed up to Clear Lake to capture Kenny and Erin's engagement portraits.  I haven't been to Clear Lake for a couple years, so I was excited to head back up that way.  I love the opportunity to photograph somewhere new.  We began our session at the Central Gardens of North Iowa.  It is a beautiful location and the evening light created a wonderful glow.  It was a perfect location for their portraits.

Jillian {Modeled Bridal Session}

 

I love the golden hour of the day.  During this modeled session with Jillian, it added to her glow and radiance.  I am in absolute love with how this session went.  For years, I have gone to visit a dear friend in the town of Clermont.  Clermont is a very small town and most people would not think of it as an amazing location for portraits, but I was drawn to shoot there.  Thankfully, Jillian was up for indulging my itch to photograph a bridal session there.

My Girls in the Pompous Grass

 
Ok, so I love, love, love pompous grass in the fall, especially in the evening sun.  This year I finally got my kiddos dressed up and headed out to a spot just outside of Wellman to take some portraits.  I am absolutely in love with the results.  L & G had so much fun dancing in their tutus during the session, so despite the slight chill in the air (don't worry they had coats and a nice warm car to sit in just a few feet away) they had a blast.
