Around the Studio This Week
I missed my morning blog post, but I haven't forgotten to share with you what's been happening around the studio this week. This week has a been a little slower around the studio in terms of sessions. I took off a few days to spend time with family, as my husband just returned home from the Dominican Republic (still a little jealous he got to go in the first place! j/k....maybe not ;) ). Then today I volunteered at my oldest daughter's school as they took their "trip to Australia." We were given the opportunity to go to Australia years ago and loved our trip there! It was really fun to talk about the adventures we went on during our short time in Perth. So, yeah. Studio remodeling has been at a bit of a standstill this week, but hopefully next week we'll be able to tackle some of these final few projects! I can't wait!!

Wyatt {One Year Old}
One evening last week, I met up with Wyatt and his parents at Wellman's North Park. Wyatt is so adorable and it was a lot of fun capturing his portraits. I was so happy that he was in a good mood during golden hour, the hour before sunset, because the evening light was simply beautiful.

Maryann, Lilly, Sebastian, & Sterling {Cousins}
Check out this adorable quartet! I've had the pleasure of photographing Maryann and Lilly since they were babies, and I was excited to have them back in the studio along with their handsome twin cousins, Sebastian and Sterling. Such a gorgeous group of kiddos!

Progress!!
If you've been following my blog, you know I've been working hard on several remodeling projects in the studio. I'm SUPER happy to say that progress is being made. The ceiling is painted, the walls have been painted, the upper trim has finally been hung, new curtains are up, and some much overdue reorganizing has been taking place. It is so wonderful to see all the hard work turning into something wonderful. I love the gallery wall I just put up. It is a beautiful focal point in the consultation/office area of the studio. I still have more to hang on the walls and the interior doorway needs some TLC.

Allie & Andie
It's been a while since I'd had the pleasure of photographing Allie, so I was excited when her parents scheduled a mini session for her and her newborn sister, Andie. The weather was windy and chilly despite the bright sunshine, but both girls did a great job. I have to admit it, I love willow trees. I them they are beautiful and are wonderful backgrounds for portraits. The willow tree in City Park was filled with beautiful bright green buds and was a lovely setting for the session. I love the colors in the girls' outfits. So simple and fun. They really make Allie's blue eyes stand out stunningly.

Carter & Adria
Carter and Adria came out to our Spring Mini-Sessions at City Park in Iowa City. It was a beautiful sunny day and the willow tree by the river was a perfect location for us to set up. I love how well their outfits coordinated with the banner and quilt I had available for the sessions. It was amazing since we hadn't planned that at all.

An Update {Remodeling}
Happy Friday! As I sit here at my desk, I am loving my freshly painted ceiling and new wall color. Painting has still been the name of the game lately. Though, I think I'm finally done with that portion of this whole project. Yay! Next on the list is trim. Hopefully, this weekend I'll be able to enlist some help installing the ceiling trim in the studio. Then, it'll be on to finishing up the stairs and hanging the new doors for the interior entrance to the studio. I cannot wait to get those hung!!

Blair & Marin {Spring Session}
Our Spring Mini-Sessions once again brought the super adorable duo that is Blair and Marin in front of my camera. I first met these two sweet little girls during our Autumn Mini-Sessions last year. My how they have grown since then! Once again they were such a pleasure to work with. They were so full of smiles!

Finding the Right Videographer {Guest Post by NEPO Productions}
When it comes to Weddings, "The Big Day", Photography and Cinematography are two totally separate art forms and industries. One does NOT negate the other. What the photography leaves you wanting is the sound and the motion of the moment. For example, applause as the groom kisses the
bride, the sound of the Father of the Bride choking up as he gives his speech, or hearing the vows that you spent so much time writing and choosing. There are countless other examples. Don't rely on your Videographer to shoot still pictures, and don't rely on your Photographer to shoot video. Each of them have their own expertise and each should be a part of your big day. We as Wedding Filmmakers are not here to eliminate the idea of a Wedding Photographer, we are here to join them in the purpose of preserving your day, which in essence, will be something you, your kids, and extended family will want to see for years to come.
