April + Chris {Maternity}

Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing April and Chris' maternity session.  Three years ago, I photographed their beautiful wedding at A Touch of Class in Cedar Rapids, though honestly, it doesn't seem possible that it's been three years.  I'm so excited for them as they prepare to welcome their new, little baby boy.  

Melissa + Lisa {Maternity}

At the end of July, I headed to the beautiful rose gardens behind the Des Moines Art Center for Melissa and Lisa's maternity session.  Years ago, I had the honor of capturing their beautiful wedding at the Shakespeare Theater in Iowa City's City Park.  So I was thrilled when they contacted me about photographing their maternity portraits.

Mary Beth {Maternity}

I love maternity sessions.  There is nothing more beautiful than the glow of a mommy to be.  Whether it's her first or fifth child, there is still a radiance about her. 

Recently, in the midst of this weather's flip flop between spring and winter, we had the perfect snow for portraits and Mary Beth seized the moment to capture her maternity portraits.  The ground was completely clear from snow the evening before, but by the time noon rolled around the next day a beautiful clean powder of snow had covered the ground.  The air was filled with gorgeous fluffy flakes of snow.  It was truly the perfect setting for this winter loving mommy to be!

Julie {Maternity}

 A little over a year ago, I photographed the wedding of Brian and Julie.  I was super excited when I received an email from them telling me they were expecting their first little one and wanted to come in for a maternity session.  I love maternity sessions.  Theirs was no exception.  We had a lot of fun with the flag and dog tags they brought with in honor of Brian's military service.  I think my favorite shot is the one featured above though.  Love!

Liz & Jeremiah {Parents to Be}

At the end of August, Liz and Jeremiah were once again in my studio.  The last time they had been in was January of 2010 for their engagement session.  I photographed their September 2010 wedding, and hadn't had the opportunity to see them since.  I was thrilled when I received an email from Liz saying they are expecting their first little one in September. 

Emma {Maternity}

I had the pleasure of photographing Emma and her beautiful baby bump last week. She is almost full term and is all belly. Absolutely beautiful! I love taking maternity portraits. There is nothing more beautiful then a woman about to become a mother. They simply glow.

Sawyer & Family

Today I had the sweet little Sawyer in my studio. He is celebrating a lot of big events in his life right now. He turned 2 this past week and next month he's going to be a big brother! He loves his baby sister already. Simply adorable!

Amanda: Mommy-to-be

Today I had a fun studio session with the lovely Amanda. She is due in just 2 weeks with her fourth precious little one! All I can say, is she looks simply amazing. She was such a pleasure to work with and has the sweetest hint of a German accent. It was a lot of fun playing around in the studio and finally trying out some of my new maternity wraps! She was a real sport and up for anything. I especially love the shots of her with the umbrella. It's an antique one that I got ages ago and have been so hoping to have a chance to use. I felt it fit in perfectly with her April due date, "April showers" after all.

Jennifer

Yesterday I had a wonderful session with Jennifer. She is due in late April with her first child, a little boy. She had one adorable baby bump and is simply glowing! It was a lot of fun working with her and capturing this momentous event in her life.

Katie & Maryann

Today I had a fun maternity and child session with the lovely Katie and her sweet daughter Maryann. Maryann is just shy of 18 months and is an absolute doll! She wasn't too interesting in getting her photo taken, but we got some good shots when all was said and done.

A big event is coming up for Maryann. She will be a big sister next month! Katie is looking great and truly a glowing mama-to-be.

Elida {Maternity}

While in Decorah this past weekend, I spent my Saturday afternoon with the lovely Elida and her husband Nick. They are due with their seventh boy this next week. Very exciting! We had a great maternity session and got so many wonderful shots that it was hard to pick which ones to share here. These are only a fraction on the photos we took on Saturday. Simply gorgeous!

The Beautiful Beth

Today I had a great session with the first time mommy-to-be, Beth. She was so sweet and great to work with. Her belly is beautiful and she is radiant. I think we got some wonderful and artistic shots today.

One Glowing Mama

The past Sunday I had a great time photographing the beautiful Marina. She's expecting her second child and is looking spectacular! She and her family are so fun to work with. I've been photographing her daughter since she was three months old. It has been amazing watching her grow. It will be so much fun meeting this new little one and getting to know him/her as well!
