Getting Ready for the Bridal Salon

Over the past few weeks, I've been not only remodeling the studio, but also be prepping things for the IMU event. I was so excited yesterday when my custom guest book examples came in. They look fabulous! I cannot wait to show them off. Guest books are a new addition for 2010 wedding seasion, as is our photo booth option. I am always on the look out for new items and services to offer my brides and grooms to help make their day even more spectacular.

IMU Bridal Salon

It is once again time for the wonderful Bridal Salon at the IMU in downtown Iowa City. Come and visit Geno Photography at the IMU Bridal Salon hosted by Weddings In Iowa. We will be there to answer any questions you may have and will have examples of leather bound albums, custom guest books, and more. Also, we have a special, limited time sign on bonus for bride who book at the event. So be sure to stop by and see what goodies we have to offer!

At the end of the fair, there will be a runway fashion show. A wonderful way to get ideas for your big day! At the end of the fashion show, two lucky brides will win two fabulous gift bags, each including a complimentary Trash The Dress or Groom's Gift session.

The Wonderful Cynthia Betts

Through my work with Special Events LLC, I have had the chance to meet Cynthia Betts, wedding planner extraordinaire. Cynthia lives and breathes weddings. She has beautiful creations to show for it. She works mostly in the Des Moines area, but serves Iowa as a whole as well. She currently has some amazing table displays up at Zephyr Weddings in Coralville. To all the brides out there who are looking for some help planning the perfect wedding, please stop by and check out her amazing work.

Zephyr Weddings

I've been working with the wonderful ladies at Zephyr Weddings lately, helping them update and improve their online galleries. It has been a lot of fun and I've seen so many creative and beautiful invitations. Almost makes me want to get married all over again just so I can have some cute invitations. On Monday, we made it through 2 of their enormous example books and we will be finishing off the last 2 tomorrow. To all the upcoming brides, you should definitely go check out their new shop on the Coralville strip to see all the examples of their amazing work yourselves! Jennifer

Yesterday I had a wonderful session with Jennifer. She is due in late April with her first child, a little boy. She had one adorable baby bump and is simply glowing! It was a lot of fun working with her and capturing this momentous event in her life.

The Sweet Sisters: Savannah & Sofia

Today I had a great time with these adorable little girls. I photographed Savannah about a year ago for a Mother's Day four generation session. At the time, Sofia was just a little bean in her mommy's tummy. It was great to reconnect with Savannah and a pleasure to finally meet the adorable Sofia. Sofia was full of fun smiles that lit up her gorgeous little baby face. Savannah, however, was a tough one to get to smile. Our last session together, we didn't manage to get a single single smile from her. Today was a huge success with smiles! She, much to the amazement and delight of her mother and grandmother, gave us some wonderful giggles and sweet smiles.

Gabrielle Mae

My youngest is growing so quickly. I thought I'd share her latest portrait session with everyone. I take her portraits every month and it is just astonishing to watch how much she's changed in so little time.

The Studio

I'm happy to say we are on track to finish the studio this week. The walls are finished and painted. The flooring is almost done. Lastly the trim and lighting will need to go up. I am so ecstatic with how it is turning out. A vast improvement from the way the space was previously. I look forward to having my sessions this week in the completed studio. It will be wonderful!

A Total Makeover

Last month I blogged about the redesign of our website and blog, they're not the only things getting a new look! The studio is undergoing some major (and much needed) changes itself. We started our remodel two weeks ago and are hoping this week will see the finishing touches put into place. I cannot wait to have it all finished!

At this point, the paneling on the walls is gone, the drywall is finished and painted beautiful colors, and the carpet has made it's exit. The next step will be to lay the new flooring. Then we'll be ready to put up the trim and do the last finishing touches. It is so wonderful to finally seem my studio dreams coming to life, just the way I want them.
