Cake Smash!!!
Last Sunday, Carter (quite possibly one of the most adorable little guys I've met) was in my studio for a fun (and messy!) cake smash session in honor of his upcoming first birthday. It was a lot of fun watching him play with the cake. Surprisingly, he wasn't much for eating it! He was enthralled by the frosting stuck on his hands. It was so cute to watch!

Rita & Drik {Trashing the Dress}
In honor of Rita & Dirk's 21st anniversary, they scheduled a "trash the dress" session. It was a lot of fun to see her dress. Hello, '80s poof! We started the session with some nice formal pictures of then together. Then, at the last location, they truly trashed the dress. It was so enjoyable to be part of. I have to say, I'm pretty sure this dress isn't ever coming clean again, but what fun pictures they have!

Muscatine Wedding Salon
I had so much fun meeting with all of them amazing brides (and a few grooms) at the Muscatine Wedding Salon Bridal Fair hosted by Weddings In Iowa. A big thank you to all who came out and visited my booth. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you all!
Remember, 2011 is filling up quickly so schedule your consultation soon, before someone else books your date! Geno Photography only photographs one event per day so we can devote our entire time and attention to your wedding. This means our availability is limited!
Zephyr Weddings
I've been working with the wonderful ladies at Zephyr Weddings for about a year now. They create such amazing invitations, save the date card, RSVPs, anything you can imagine. I just finished photographing their most recent work this past Monday for their website. I love seeing all that they've created! It makes me want to host more events just so I can have fun and beautiful invitations made.
Michael {US Marine}
I had the privilege of photographing Michael, a member of the US Marine Corps, while he was home. Michael is currently in process of preparing for deployment again to the Middle East. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael and all the other veterans and service members who have served and are currently serving our country!
Shawna's Trash the Dress Session
This past Saturday I headed out with Shawna around the Ped Mall, Coralville Beach, and a few other fun spots for her "trash the dress" session. I LOVE the pictures we were able to capture. It was so hard for me to narrow down which pictures to share, and as you can see I couldn't narrow it down very far!

Trashing the Dress
I have an upcoming trash the dress session with one of my October brides this weekend. I can't wait! I cannot even explain how in love I am with trash the dress sessions. You spend so much time picking out the perfect wedding gown and only wear it one day. Trash the dress sessions allow you to model your gorgeous gown in any location you want. It allows for some stunning artistic shots. Honestly, you don't even have to trash the dress, a misnomer on the behalf of the session title. The session allows you to go to places you might not have wanted to on the day of your wedding for fear of getting dirt on your flawless gown. As of yet, every bride has gotten their dress clean and looking new afterward. How far you go with your session is completely up to you. Just relax, have fun, and be your beautiful self!
Elle-Mirai: Amazing Accessories
I have been photographing some wonderful products from Elle-Mirai. Elle-Mirai specializes in making whimsical and stylish hair accessories for children. Let me tell you, their items are amazing!! You can see what they have to offer on their Facebook page or visit their gallery on my proofs page.
Being the photographer mommy I am, I couldn't wait to doll up my little girls with these gorgeous hair clips. Did I mention I LOVE these clips?! My oldest was so excited about getting to wear them! The clips and headbands will also be available at the studio for purchase. These are a must have!

Carter {9 Months Old}
The handsome little guy that is Carter once again graced my studio at the end of October. Seriously, how adorable is this little guy?! I love the photos in the leaves while we were at Wellman Park at the beginning of his session. Unfortunately he wasn't as smiley this time as he was last time, but smiles or no he is one adorable little guy.
Quinten & Alisha {Engaged}
On October 24th, Quinten and Alisha came in to the studio for their engagement session. They are such a gorgeous couple! Their session was so much fun. After the studio portion, we headed to Wellman North Park, then to Wellman South Park, and then back to the studio for some final images. It was a long session according to the clock, but it just flew by. They were so relaxed and easy to work with.

The Jungblut Family
Kelvin & Chelsia
Kelvin and Chelsia will be getting married in their home country of Singapore next July. They asked me to take their engagement portraits this fall to capture the beauty of the season and as a remind in the future of their lives in Iowa. They are currently both attending the University of Iowa in the College of Dentistry and plan to return to Singapore in the future. They were so much fun to work with, full of laughter and energy. We were able to capture the splendor of fall and the beauty of Iowa for them. It is really an honor to be asked to capture such important moments in people's lives.
Scott
I had a blast photographing Scott's senior pictures! Despite being a typical guy and not initially wanting to smile for the camera, he was really laid back and fun to work with. We started with a quick session in the studio with his guitar. Then headed around Wellman with his skateboard. I love it when people bring in items that really speak to their personality.
Sweet Little Peyton {6 Months Old}
It does not even seem possible that the itty bitty two week old I first met this spring could possibly be 6 months old already. Peyton is getting so big! She is still as adorable as ever, maybe even more so now that she has that wonderful two-toothed smile to share. We started our session with some fall inspired family portraits at Foster Woods. Then we headed back to the studio to finish up with some more formal pictures. Peyton did so well. She is a model in the making. I cannot wait to see her again in just a few short months for her 9 month portraits.
JD & Skye {Engaged}
I spent the afternoon of October 17th with JD & Skye around the university Art Museum. It is truly a wonderful location, full of a variety of architecture. A great way to add a lot of variety to your session without having to travel a lot. JD & Skye are such a fun and laid back couple. It was wonderful working with them. I'm definitely looking forward to their wedding next June at bella sala. It will be gorgeous!
Zach & Brooke {Engaged}
I spent a beautiful Sunday morning with Zach and Brooke a few weeks ago. They were so easy to work with! We started our morning at the fishing bridge at the corner of Hwy 6 and Riverside. It's such a wonderful spot that often gets overlooked since it's a little out of the way. After the bridge, we headed (in true Hawkeye fashion) over to Kinnick. We took a few more photos in their more formal clothes on the train tracks. Then they donned their Hawkeyes shirts and we headed around the stadium.
Drew & Shawna {Newlyweds}
On October 16th, I spent my day with Drew and Shawna. We headed to City Park for formal portraits of the bride and groom, as well as the bridal party. I have to say I adore the opportunity to step away from the alter for formal pictures. It allow for everyone to relax a little bit and have some fun with photos.

October
October has been a very busy month for me. Four weddings and lots of portrait sessions have kept me editing photos like crazy. I love it! Unfortunately, it means I haven't had time to update my blog or website. I promise, once things slow down a bit in the beginning of November, I will be posting a ton of photos of all the gorgeous people I have had the pleasure of working with this month.

The Rich Family
The Blakley Family
Tuesday morning, I met up with the Blakley family in Coralville at a wonderful property on the northside. Their little boys were simply darling. The youngest, like most little ones, was not terribly interested in getting his portraits taken but did a great job. The oldest was a pro though! It was a pleasure working with their beautiful family.

Last Saturday, I spent my day with Aaron and Jesse at their country inspired wedding in Richmond. We photographed most of the formal portraits at the alter in Holy Trinity, but we were fortunate enough to steal away between the ceremony and reception to the little barn across the street for some great shots.
Chad & Emily {Engaged}
Last Friday, I spent the afternoon with Chad and Emily. We braved the chaos of Iowa homecoming and started our session at the Old Capitol. Despite it being so busy, we got some great shots. After the Old Capital, we headed to the bridge at Iowa River Power Restaurant and the nice trails there. They were so much fun to work with and such a gorgeous couple!

Earlier this month had the pleasure of spending the day with Jeremiah & Liz as they celebrated their wedding. We started our day at La James in Iowa City, where the girls and moms all got their hair done. After, we headed to start formals at St. Mary's in Riverside. What a beautiful church! We got some amazing shots. The couple was great, so fun and romantic, and the bridal party was very energetic! After the ceremony, we headed to Old Capitol Brew Works for some fun photos before heading to their amazing reception in Richmond.

My Family
It is once again the season for family pictures, and our family is no exception. On Memorial Day, we headed to City Park and got some fun family shots. After a nice lunch out, we came home and I finished up the day with a session for my girls in the studio. It's nice to once again have some new photos to go up on the walls! The girls have changed so much in the past year. It is amazing how quickly time flies.

George & Amy {Just Married}
This past Saturday, I headed up to A Touch of Class in Cedar Rapids for the wedding of Amy & George. The ceremony was held outside in the gazebo and it was beautiful! The formal portraits were so much fun. We had plenty of wonderful locations around the gazebo, including a little park to play in. Their reception was inside the ballroom at A Touch of Class and was very lively and fun. Congratulations again to Amy & George and thank you for allowing us to share in your amazing day!

Julia, Luke, & Jane
Last Sunday, I had these three adorable little ones in my studio. Seriously, can it get much cuter than this trio?! They were so easy to photograph. Simply gorgeous!! It was so much fun having them in for pictures! I tell you, they are future models in the making. From the session, we has so many great shots that I put together a series of collages to make a gallery wall. I think they would make an amazing wall display.
Eric & Callie {Newlyweds}
Last weekend I headed to Maquoketa for the beautiful outdoor wedding of Eric and Callie. I started my day with Callie at a local historic hotel. It was so gorgeous in there! We had a lot of fun getting shots around the hotel before heading to the ceremony site, an old mill nearby. The location was stunning. This wedding was so much fun to photograph. The couple was a lot of fun, their little son was full of smiles, and the wedding party members were great!

Katie {Trash the Dress}
I had a blast in southern Minnesota with Katie for her trash the dress session. We went out in the pasture with one of her horses, Pretty, and down to the creek at the edge of her property. I think we got some amazing shots! I cannot wait for my next trash the dress session. They are so much fun and make for some beautiful photos. For those of you who are considering it, definitely do it! Thus far, everyone's dress has come clean afterward.
Hunter & Kelly {Just Married}
Last Saturday I spent the day with Hunter and Kelly as they renewed their vows. They had a beautiful service at St. Mark's Lutheran in Marion and a fun reception at the Elk's. They were a lot of fun to work with and I'm glad we got to steal a little time after the ceremony for a bride and groom session in the lovely field beside the church. I love how the photos turned out!
