Katie & Maryann

Today I had a fun maternity and child session with the lovely Katie and her sweet daughter Maryann. Maryann is just shy of 18 months and is an absolute doll! She wasn't too interesting in getting her photo taken, but we got some good shots when all was said and done.

A big event is coming up for Maryann. She will be a big sister next month! Katie is looking great and truly a glowing mama-to-be.

Taylor

Today I had a great time taking Taylor's senior portraits. She's was wonderful to work with. We started our session walking around downtown Wellman in the freezing weather. Thankfully we got some amazing shots despite the frigid temps. Afterward, we headed back to the studio to warm up and finish the session. Taylor is the first person to have a session in the studio since the remodeling began. I was very excited to try out my new set up (and will be even more excited once the whole remodel is complete!). We got some beautiful pictures, of course it helps to have such a beautiful subject. A big thanks to the lovely Taylor for putting up with a half finished studio and being so relaxed to work with! It was great!

Jeremiah & Liz

My second session this weekend was an engagement shoot for Jeremiah and Liz. They're getting married this September. After today I'm even more looking forward to their wedding. They were so much fun to work with. Absolute naturals in front of the camera! We got so many amazing pictures today. It was really hard to narrow down which ones to share on here. Even then I still have almost 20 to post! That's only a fraction of the total in the final edit.

We had a blast in the studio, then braved to cold and snow to do some fun outdoor shots. We headed into Iowa City to stop by the "fishing" bridge (by Riverside & Hwy 6) and then off to downtown. Despite the melting and dripping snow and all the ice we got some great pictures. It was absolutely wonderful working with these two! I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in September!

Stanley

This weekend I had 2 wonderful photos sessions. The first was a senior session with the handsome Stanley. He was a great and very cooperative subject to work with. We got some really nice studio shots.

New Year, New Site

I am excited to say that after many hours of designing and tweaking the new Geno Photography is now up and running. I love designing my own site and have done so for myself from the beginning. I'm no technical guru but I think I get the job done. :) I'm hoping you all enjoy the new site as much as I do!

Also, you might notice my blog has had a bit of a face-lift as well. I'm still not 100% done with my tweaking here, but it's definitely looking a lot better. Hopefully in the weeks to come I'll get it all sorted out the way I want it.

Winter has it's pros and cons. Portraits and weddings are slow this time of year generally, but on the plus side it gives me a chance to go in and work on things like my site. It seems to be becoming an annual tradition to revamp my website each winter.

Trinity's Christmas Portraits

Yesterday I photographed Trinty and her parents' Christmas portraits. Trinity's mother was born a little before Christmas and was sent home from the hospital in a special stocking in honor of the season. Thankfully it was kept safe through the years and we were able to get Trinity's picture in it. A very special moment! It was great fun working with this blue eyed beauty. She sure is a cutie!

The busy years to come

2011 is already getting some serious interest. I already have met with a few brides and have a few on the calendar. It seems like brides are taking more time to plan their weddings, which is a wonderful thing. Take your time, enjoy the process. Plus booking early locks you in at lower rates. Prices tend to change due to many factors and usually these factors do not bring about a decrease, so it’s really smart to book your vendors and venues early. But make sure you are booking someone you have faith in and want to work with. Don’t let price be the deciding factor.

Back on point, things are filling up quickly. The fall of 2010 is almost full already. There still remain a few spring and summer dates, but as the winter goes on fewer and fewer dates will be available. If you’re interested in wedding photography, I’d recommend contacting Geno Photography soon or the date might be filled.

I’d like to take a moment and thank all of our wonderful couples we’ve worked with this year! Every photographer says they have the best clients, but that’s only because they haven’t worked with you and don’t know any better. :) To all my brides and grooms for 2010 and 2011, I am so looking forward to working with you all! You are all amazing!!

Jack & Teresa

Yesterday I had a fun and chilly shoot with Jack and Teresa. They were so easy to work with, as was their dog. We ended up with some great shots of them as a family.

Elida's Pilates Studio

On Sunday, I met Elida and Nick again at Elida's Pilates Studio in downtown Decorah. We took some photos to help enhance her Studio website. It was a lot of fun seeing the different stretches and working with Nick and Elida again.

Elida {Maternity}

While in Decorah this past weekend, I spent my Saturday afternoon with the lovely Elida and her husband Nick. They are due with their seventh boy this next week. Very exciting! We had a great maternity session and got so many wonderful shots that it was hard to pick which ones to share here. These are only a fraction on the photos we took on Saturday. Simply gorgeous!
