Phillip + Megan {Engagement}
On a gorgeous Monday evening in September, I met with Phillip and Megan at the Iowa City Public Library to begin their engagement session. Thankfully, they didn't think I was completely crazy as I navigated them down the back alleys, which are some of my favorite places to shoot in downtown Iowa City. I especially love the area behind Atlas. The ivy wall and spiral staircase are amazing!
Megan and Phillip were great to work with, so relaxed and fun. It was great getting a chance to get to know them better as we walked the Ped Mall. Megan is a nurse at the University of Iowa and Phillip is a high school math teacher.
Megan brought along some fun props for their session. A coworker of hers was kind enough to do their chalkboard writing for their signs. They turned out great! I also love their ampersands! Megan came into the session with the inspiration to get a shadow picture with the ampersand. I think the final image came out beautifully!
After the Ped Mall, we headed to Kent Park near Oxford to finish their session. The evening light was gorgeous! The bridge by the beach was a perfect location for portraits.
Megan and Phillip brought along their five month old, lab-German Shepherd mix for the session. Seriously, how adorable is their puppy!? While he was not too interested in posing and hanging out for pics, I think we got some great shots and he did wonderful.
Megan brought along a few additional signs for the Kent Park portion of the session. I love the one their puppy had, saying "My mom and dad are getting married!" Love it!
I think my favorite images of the evening are the ones of Megan and Phillip snuggled while sitting in the grass.
It was a beautiful session, and I look forward to capturing Phillip and Megan's wedding next August!
