Last weekend, I met up with Sam and Kayla in downtown Iowa City for their engagement session. They drove in from their home in Northern Indiana for the session. It was so wonderful working with them both and getting to know them better before their wedding this October! I've said it before, but it's so true, I love engagement sessions!

Consultations
My schedule lately has been full of consultations. I love having the opportunity to meet with new couples and learn more about the weddings they are planning. I think consultations are an important part of beginning to build our relationship. Yes, I do view my work with each and every couple as a relationship. I don't want to just be some lady with a camera that's been hired to capture a wedding day. I want to know each of my couples and I want them to feel comfortable and confident with me.

Studio Remodel...
If you've been reading my blog you know that the studio remodel has been a journey. I'm happy to say that almost all of the projects that were planned in the studio are done. Woo-hoo!! The bad part is the remodeling spilled over into my husband's office, which means the studio is still in a bit of a transitional state. We are hoping to be done with his office remodel this week though (at least I am hoping!).

Mark & Janeen {Wedding: Part 2}
After Mark and Janeen's ceremony, we headed to Sutliff for some additional portraits on the Sutliff bridge. A few miles away, we stopped along a beautiful gravel road. The sky was a beautiful summer time blue and the fields were a bold green. Simply beautiful!

Mark & Janeen {Wedding: Part 1}
On June 21, I headed out to the countryside north of Solon where Sts. Peter & Paul Church is located to capture Mark and Janeen's wedding day. Despite the clouds looking rather ominous in the morning, it turned out to be a gorgeous day and we had a blast working with Mark and Janeen, as well as their wonderful friends and families.

It's Been a Whirlwind!
The past couple weeks have been crazy between work and vacation (which always somehow manages to become a working vacation...). We have been to Lincoln, NE; St. Paul, MN; and Decorah, IA in the past two weeks. To make things a little extra interesting, my car died. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I got to spend 6 hours of my vacation stranded just off of I-80 near Atlantic, IA. It's been an adventure to say the least!

The Hicks Family
Last week, I met up with the Hicks family. They had all come from several hours away for a family reunion camping in the North Liberty area. While they were together they wanted to take the opportunity to get some updated family portraits. It's so wonderful when families take advantage of their time together in order to capture special moments like these, especially when they are with family they don't see often.
