Peter & Ryan {Wedding: Part 1}

The first weekend of August, my assistant Greg and I headed to West Des Moines for the wedding of Peter and Ryan.  Our day began at Covenant Presbyterian Church.  As Ryan was getting in her dress, I had the pleasure of capturing images of her beautiful bouquet and hand painted shoes.  One of her bridesmaids is a fabulous artist who custom designed her shoes for the wedding day.  The sides were designed with a gorgeous green swirl, the back had little "I love you" hearts, completely blinged-out heels, and the embellishment on the toes was stunning.  So much fun!

The architecture at the church was beautiful.  The old sanctuary area had a beautiful curvy brick wall which was a perfect location for their first look.  I love when we can do a little something different during the first look.  This location was great!  Peter stood on the inner side of the wall as Ryan came to hold his hand from the other side.

After their first look, we retreated inside and away from the August heat for the formal session.  Their bridal party was great to work with.  The formals were so fun and relaxed, just the way they should be.

Once the family portraits were finished, we braved the head for a few more portraits of Peter and Ryan around the church.  There were some great spots very close to the church.  I loved the large evergreen trees and the wooden fence.  The sun was very bright, but thankfully we were able to stay in the shade.

I love, love, love Peter and Ryan's rings!  Ryan's is truly unique.  They mirrored the green of her stone in their wedding colors.  Simply beautiful!

Their ceremony was beautiful and attended by close friends and family.  Be sure to check back later for part two of Peter and Ryan's wedding day!
