Golden Hour

One of the most key elements in photography is lighting.  The lighting in an image can truly make or break it.  You may or may not have heard the term "golden hour" when talking to your photographer about portrait times.  Golden hour is the hour after the sun rises and the hour before the sun sets.  During golden hour the sun is low in the sky and the light is warm and dreamy.  Even on the harshest, most sunny day; golden hour is a time with beautiful soft light.

I love photographing during golden hour.  I definitely recommend it to my clients.  Outdoor sessions during the day have their own challenges, worrying about harsh overhead sunlight or finding shade to create more even lighting.  During golden hour, the lighting is warm and even.

Another added benefit of golden hour, especially during the warm summer months, is the temperature drops during the evening, so you remain a cooler during the session.
